Bode George Slams PDP Governors Planning to Defect to APC

Chief Bode George has criticised governors from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who are reportedly planning to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Speaking in an interview monitored by RadioNow’s news desk, the PDP chieftain described the move as disappointing and a betrayal of the platform that gave them political relevance.

George questioned why governors who were elected on the strength of PDP’s programmes would consider switching parties halfway through their tenure. He accused them of abandoning the party that helped them rise to power.

Mr George criticised the structure of the APC, asking who the party’s national secretary, national treasurer, national publicity secretary, and woman leader are. He described the PDP as a political oak tree and challenged the alleged defectors to consider what history will say about their actions.

His comments come amid reports that at least three or four PDP governors may defect to the APC to support President Bola Tinubu’s possible second-term bid.

While Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno has already shown support, others like Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Rivers’ suspended Governor Sim Fubara are reportedly weighing their options.
