Nigeria continues to shine at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the country’s medal tally rising to 16 after strong performances across weightlifting and para powerlifting.
The team has secured seven gold, three silver and six bronze medals, placing Nigeria among the leading African nations at the competition.
Weightlifter Onome Omolola Didih added to the country’s success by winning gold in the women’s 53kg category with a Commonwealth and Commonwealth Games record total of 206kg.
Didih’s victory marked Nigeria’s fifth gold medal at the time and highlighted the country’s dominance in strength-based events.
Officials and athletes have praised the team’s performance as the Games continue, with Nigeria expected to challenge for more medals before the closing ceremony.
