Former Senate President David Mark has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing internal divisions and a collapse of leadership.
In a letter to his ward chairman in Otukpo, Benue State, dated June 27, Senator Mark said the PDP had become, in his own words, ‘a shadow of its former self.’

Shortly after, he was unveiled as chairman of a new opposition coalition adopting the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as its platform ahead of 2027.
The coalition includes Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir el-Rufai—all pledging to, in their own words, ‘rescue Nigeria and defend democracy.’
