The House of Representatives has launched a probe into the country’s outstanding €1.2 million debt to the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, OACPS.
The move follows a motion by Ogun lawmaker Ibrahim Isiaka, who warned that failure to honour the obligation could attract sanctions and undermine Nigeria’s standing.

Despite receiving over €1.7 billion in development support under the OACPS-EU Cotonou Agreement, Nigeria has yet to settle its dues.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas has tasked key committees to investigate and liaise with relevant ministries to resolve the matter within two weeks.
