The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed Deputy Inspector-General Ishyaku Mohammed to Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election. Mohammed will coordinate the police’s role in election security, working with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security.
Assistant Inspectors-General and Commissioners of Police will support him across the state’s three senatorial districts.
The IGP has warned against ballot snatching, voter intimidation and thuggery, promising swift arrest and prosecution. Armed escorts and unauthorised persons are barred from polling units and collation centres on election day.
