Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has won silver at the Ostrava Golden Spike athletics meeting in the Czech Republic, recording a season’s best in the men’s shot put event.
Enekwechi produced a throw of 21.43 metres in the third round to secure second place in a strong international field on Wednesday.
Italy’s Leonardo Fabbri won the competition with a best effort of 21.91 metres, while New Zealand’s Tom Walsh placed third with 21.26 metres.
The Nigerian athlete has continued a strong 2026 season, having won gold at the Znamensky Memorial in Russia earlier this month and finished fifth at the LA Grand Prix, as he builds momentum towards major championships later in the year.
