The Nigeria Police Force has failed to produce Adeniyi Adeyemi before a House of Representatives committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
Police told the panel that Adeyemi, who is in custody, is being held under a subsisting Federal High Court order and that a separate production warrant would be required before he can appear before lawmakers.
The committee had directed the police to bring him before it on Wednesday, July 29 to answer questions about documents linked to the purported agency. The probe has also heard evidence that the Head of the Civil Service failed to carry out adequate due diligence before processing documents presented by the group. Didi Walson-Jack told lawmakers her office accepts responsibility for the lapse and will review its procedures.
The PFIPC has been disowned by the Presidency as a legitimate government agency.
