Orlando Pirates have formally joined the race to sign Nigerian forward Etiosa Ighodaro, intensifying competition ahead of the new season. The Mamelodi Sundowns striker, who impressed during a loan spell at AmaZulu FC, is now attracting attention from a host of top clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs, Sekhukhune United, and AmaZulu themselves.
Ighodaro featured prominently in the PSL last season, earning praise for his power, consistency, and eye for goal. AmaZulu are keen to retain him, but sources say Pirates and Sekhukhune have opened discussions with both Sundowns and the player’s representatives.

The battle for his signature has now gone international, with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca and Russia’s FC Baltika also expressing firm interest.
With Sekhukhune reportedly eyeing Ighodaro as a replacement for Andy Boyeli, who is linked to Egypt’s Pyramids FC, the stakes continue to rise. Pirates will need to move quickly—and decisively—to avoid losing out.
