Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana has endorsed the Lagos State Local Government Administration Law 2025, describing it as constitutionally sound and in line with Supreme Court precedent.
The new law, which replaces the 2015 version, clarifies that any tenure completed through succession or by-election counts as a full term—closing a legal loophole often exploited by local politicians.

Falana said the legislation reflects the spirit of *Marwa v. Nyako*, reinforcing the constitutional limit of two terms for local government chairmen.
He called it a timely reform to curb tenure extension at grassroots level.
