The Federal Government says it has disbursed N32 billion under the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen over 8,000 primary health centres across Nigeria.
The announcement was made at the 11th Expanded Ministerial Oversight Committee meeting in Abuja, where Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate said more than 37 million facility visits have been supported so far, marking progress towards Universal Health Coverage.

He noted that recent fiscal reforms—including a tax bill and executive orders to spur local healthcare manufacturing—are building financial sustainability and reducing aid dependency.
Prof. Pate also highlighted a treatment gap for 50,000 tuberculosis patients, stressing that the 2025 budget includes targeted funding to close it.
Local governments, he confirmed, are now fully integrated into national healthcare delivery efforts.
