The Federal Government has given airlines one week to reach repayment plans for unremitted Ticket Sales Charges, following Tuesday’s union-led flight disruptions.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo directed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, and other aviation agencies to draw up realistic payment schedules with individual airlines, factoring in their operating costs and current economic realities. The directive followed an emergency stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja.
Keyamo also ordered the NCAA to ensure unions have direct access to distribute unionisation forms to all airline workers, warning that any airline blocking this would be sanctioned. The parties agreed to reconvene in one month to review progress.
