FIFA releases more World Cup tickets amid pricing backlash

FIFA has announced the release of additional tickets for all 104 matches of the 2026 World Cup, following complaints from fans over newly introduced premium pricing categories. The global football body said the tickets will go on sale on Wednesday across Categories 1, 2 and 3.

The new “front category” pricing tier, introduced earlier this month, has drawn criticism from supporters who say better seats were withheld and reassigned at higher prices. Ticket prices initially ranged from 140 dollars for early round matches to 8,680 dollars for the final, before rising to as much as 10,990 dollars.

Reports also indicate slower ticket sales for some fixtures, including the United States opening match against Paraguay scheduled for June 12 in Inglewood, California. FIFA estimates stadium capacity at about 69,650 for the venue hosting the match.

The governing body has not responded to requests for comment on the pricing changes, as concerns persist among fans ahead of the tournament.
