Tyson Fury says “the best is yet to come” ahead of a charity bout in Thailand this Friday, a tune-up before his long-anticipated clash with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua.
Speaking in Pattaya, the 37-year-old former two-time heavyweight champion faces 46-year-old Polish veteran Mariusz Wach at the 1,500-seat Max Muay Thai Stadium. At stake is the inaugural WBC Humanitarian title, and proceeds from the fight will benefit the Father Ray Foundation, supporting underprivileged children in Pattaya. The fight won’t air live but will be recorded for Fury’s Netflix series.
“I’ve been over here since December — beautiful place, beautiful people, great training facilities,” Fury said, describing himself as “at peace” and better suited to warmer climates. He returned from a 16-month retirement in April with a points win over Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Joshua takes his own tune-up fight against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday — his first bout since a December car crash in Nigeria that killed two close friends.
