Following the devastating floods in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State, Governor Umaru Bago has announced a relief package aimed at supporting affected communities and rebuilding infrastructure.
During a visit to displaced residents at Tiffin Madza Primary School, the governor confirmed a ₦1 billion donation and the deployment of 50 trucks loaded with grains to support victims.
To strengthen regional infrastructure, Governor Bago also revealed the award of a ₦7 billion contract for the reconstruction of the Mokwa-Raba Road and four new bridges, intended to improve connectivity and reduce flood-related isolation.

He urged residents to stop building on waterways and instructed the Ministry of Lands to issue a Certificate of Occupancy to facilitate permanent resettlement.
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency reported 206 deaths, 3,534 displaced persons, and nearly 10,000 in urgent need of aid, with farmlands, homes, and livelihoods swept away.
