An aspirant for the African Democratic Congress presidential ticket, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has withdrawn from the party’s ongoing selection process for the 2027 election, citing allegations of widespread irregularities.
In a statement on Tuesday, Hayatu-Deen said he would not attend the announcement of the ADC presidential primary results, alleging reports of vote rigging from several parts of the country. He said the concerns had raised serious doubts about the credibility of the exercise.
The development comes amid a tight contest for the party’s presidential ticket involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and Hayatu-Deen.

The party had earlier maintained that the exercise was transparent and democratic, while preparations for the announcement of results were said to have been concluded in Abuja.
