The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has cautioned residents of Plateau State against ethnically profiling criminals amid ongoing violence in the region.
During a visit to Zikke community in Bassa LGA—where over 50 people were killed in a recent attack—the police chief strongly condemned the violence and promised that justice would be served.
Egbetokun emphasized that criminality must not be linked to ethnicity.

The Zikke massacre comes just two weeks after a similar attack in Bokkos, and has left thousands displaced and homes destroyed.

Security presence has been increased in the affected areas, although no arrests have been reported. The IGP’s visit marks his third trip to Plateau in recent months, reflecting the gravity of the state’s security challenges.
