IMN blames Tinubu over insecurity, rising cost of living in Nigeria

Tinubu Urges EFCC to Intensify Fight Against Corruption

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over rising insecurity and worsening economic conditions in the country. The group says banditry, kidnappings and killings have become widespread, leaving schoolchildren, women and other citizens increasingly vulnerable.

The position was made on Friday during a press briefing in Jos, Plateau State, as part of activities marking the global 10-day Ashura commemoration at Zakzaky Hall in Anguwan Rogo, Jos North Local Government Area. The group’s representative in the state, Sheikh Muhammad Auwal Gangare, said the situation reflects what he described as bad governance and rising hardship.

IMN said recent mass abductions, including incidents in Oyo State and cases across the North-West and North-East, show that schools have become targets for criminal groups. It called on the Federal Government and state authorities to intensify efforts to rescue abducted pupils and teachers.

The group also urged what it described as comprehensive reforms to address insecurity and economic challenges, saying urgent action is needed to restore public confidence and improve living conditions in the country.
