Israel’s latest assault on Gaza’s healthcare system has rendered the Indonesian Hospital in Beit Lahiya non-operational, following drone strikes over the weekend. It was the last functioning public hospital in northern Gaza, now declared out of service by the enclave’s Health Ministry.
Dr Muhammad Abu Salmiya, head of al-Shifa Hospital, said the attacks—ongoing since Saturday—underscore a deepening crisis for patients and medics. Thousands of wounded and critically ill civilians are now cut off from care, with urgent appeals issued for blood donations and humanitarian access.

The ministry confirmed that Israeli forces have surrounded the Indonesian Hospital, barring entry and exit for patients and staff, plunging the facility into chaos.
This strike is part of a broader pattern: al-Shifa, al-Awda, Kamal Adwan, and other hospitals have also been bombed or besieged since Israel’s military campaign began. Israel has accused Hamas of using the hospitals as cover for its activities.
Targeting medical infrastructure is considered a war crime under international law.
