The Israeli military has launched one of its heaviest bombardments of Gaza in weeks, with residents reporting widespread strikes from air, land, and sea across multiple locations. Gaza’s health ministry has warned of an imminent collapse of the enclave’s already fragile healthcare system, citing the ongoing Israeli blockade on all supplies.
Among the consequences is the suspension of a UN-backed polio vaccination campaign, originally intended to reach over 600,000 children, raising fears of a resurgence of the disease.

Strikes reportedly hit residential areas, roads, and recovery efforts, with bulldozers and vehicles used to clear rubble and retrieve bodies among the targets. Nine of those vehicles, aid officials said, had been sent from Egypt.
Israel’s military confirmed striking what it labelled as 40 engineering vehicles, which it claimed were essential to Hamas operations, including the group’s attack on 7 October 2023.
Over 1,600 Palestinians have been killed since Israeli operations resumed in March, according to Gaza health authorities.
