The Kebbi State Government has announced plans to amend existing laws to impose the death penalty or life imprisonment on informants aiding armed bandits. Governor Nasiru Idris made the declaration during condolence visits to Tadurga and Kyebu communities, where recent attacks claimed at least 30 lives.
Describing informants as a threat to society, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy on insecurity. He revealed that a new military operational base would soon be established in the Zuru Emirate, supported by the deployment of Armoured Personnel Carriers and other equipment from Abuja.

Governor Idris said the state had procured 80 Hilux vehicles and 1,500 motorcycles for security operatives and vigilantes, alongside increased allowances for those serving in high-risk zones. He also urged residents to avoid politicising security issues or sharing unverified information online.
Community leaders, including the Emir of Zuru, Rtd. Major General Sani Sami, and local chiefs from Danko and Dabai, thanked the governor for his swift intervention. They called for stronger security measures, particularly along routes reportedly used by bandits crossing into Kebbi from neighbouring states.
