The Labour Party’s National Caretaker Committee led by Senator Nenadi Usman, has suspended former National Chairman Julius Abure and former Secretary Alhaji Farouk Umar for a period of six months.
The announcement was made late Thursday in Abuja through a statement jointly signed by Senator Usman and the committee’s secretary, Senator Darlington Nwokocha.

According to the statement, the suspension followed recommendations from a six-member disciplinary panel chaired by Senator Ireti Kingibe, which was constituted earlier this week.
The development marks the latest twist in the deepening internal crisis within the party. Only days earlier, the Abure-led faction had declared the suspension of Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Senator Kingibe, and four others, citing alleged anti-party conduct.
However, the Usman-led National Caretaker Committee insists Abure lacks the authority to act on behalf of the party, citing a Supreme Court ruling which she said effectively brought his tenure to an end.
