Lagos Targets Economic Growth With ₦4.444 Trillion Budget

The Lagos State Government says its ₦4.444 trillion 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity is designed to strengthen infrastructure, diversify the economy and improve living standards across the state.

The Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Ope George, disclosed this during a ministerial briefing in Ikeja. He said the budget includes ₦2.338 trillion for capital projects and ₦2.106 trillion for recurrent expenditure.

George said ₦1.467 trillion has been allocated to major infrastructure projects, including the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge and the Eti-Osa, Lekki and Epe Expressway Phase Two B, aimed at reducing traffic congestion and boosting economic activity. He added that funds have also been earmarked for housing, food security, tourism, power and digital transformation projects.

The commissioner said Lagos recorded an 84 per cent budget performance in 2025 and projected a first quarter performance rate of between 60 and 70 per cent for 2026. He said the government remains committed to prudent fiscal management and economic growth.
