The Nigerian military has initiated tactical changes in its operations to tackle renewed attacks in Plateau, Borno and other states. The adjustments, which began with the Nigerian Army, are expected to extend to the Air Force and Navy in the coming days.
As part of the shake-up, top officers have been redeployed. Major General A.E. Abubakar is now the Theatre Commander for Operation Hadin Kai in Borno, replacing Major General Shuaibu Waidi, while Major General A.K. Ibrahim takes over as Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.

The move is seen as a response to the spate of insecurity in the region. Recall that Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has warned that recent insurgent activities are threatening to reverse the peace gains of the last three years. He cited multiple military positions recently overrun by terrorists in parts of the state.
Security experts have urged the federal government to combine military strategies with political solutions, improved troop welfare, and modern technology to effectively address the growing security challenges.
