Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, says the country’s security woes demand more than military intervention, calling instead for a multi-pronged approach rooted in justice, governance, and community partnership.
Speaking in Jos at the launch of the Presidential Community Engagement Peace Initiative and North Central Peace Summit, General Musa urged the fencing of Nigeria’s borders and the establishment of a national database to bolster intelligence and monitor cross-border threats.
He pressed political leaders to show firm and responsible leadership, assuring the military’s support for all lawful security efforts.
Representing Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Commissioner Ephraim Usman echoed the call for locally driven peace strategies, stressing that genuine stability must be built from the ground up.
The summit brought together military leaders, state officials, and community representatives to chart a path toward lasting peace in the region.
