The National Youth Service Corps has reiterated that prospective corps members will not be mobilised without obtaining clearance from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank, known as NERD.
In a public advisory, the scheme urged graduates to complete the process early to avoid delays in mobilisation for the 2026 Batch B Stream II service year, which begins August 5.
NERD is the Federal Government’s national digital platform for storing and verifying academic records, including certificates, transcripts, dissertations and final-year projects. Introduced to strengthen the integrity of Nigeria’s education system, the platform is designed to curb certificate fraud and enable secure verification of academic credentials.
The policy applies to both mobilisation and exemption from national service. NYSC advised prospective corps members to complete all required documentation, including NERD clearance, before reporting for orientation camp.
