Trump delays Iran strike as diplomatic efforts gather pace

Trump Delays Planned Strikes on Iran’s Energy Infrastructure

U.S. President Donald Trump has postponed planned military strikes against Iran, saying diplomatic efforts have opened a path toward easing tensions in the Middle East. Trump said he was delaying military action to give negotiations a chance after claiming regional allies had agreed on the broad framework of a deal.

The proposed plan includes measures to reduce hostilities, secure shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and advance talks on Gaza. Iran, however, said discussions were still continuing through mediators in Oman and indicated no final agreement had been reached. There was also no joint confirmation from Israel or Iran that a comprehensive deal had been concluded.

The announcement comes after weeks of heightened tensions and military exchanges that raised concerns over regional security, global energy supplies and international shipping through the strategic waterway.
