Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has convened an emergency security council meeting following renewed violence in Bassa Local Government Area, where armed assailants attacked the communities of Zikke and Kimakpa on Monday.
The meeting, held at the Government House in Jos, brought together senior security officials to assess the deteriorating situation in Bassa and neighbouring Bokkos, which have seen a troubling resurgence of militia activity in recent weeks.

Governor Mutfwang described the assault as a coordinated invasion by over 100 armed men who targeted civilians in the early hours of the morning. He condemned the killings and vowed to intensify efforts to restore stability across the region.
Authorities say decisive measures are being considered to halt the cycle of violence and prevent further loss of life. The governor reassured residents that his administration remains committed to securing every community in the state.
