Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has announced that he will recommend a ceasefire agreement with the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah to his cabinet for approval. This follows a wave of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon, as tensions remain high in the region.

In a televised address, Netanyahu stated that he would present the ceasefire draft to cabinet ministers later today, setting the stage for a truce after 14 months of conflict that has claimed thousands of lives.

However, Netanyahu did not disclose details about the terms of the ceasefire or when it might take effect. The plan, which has been brokered by the United States and France, follows discussions held by Israel’s security cabinet.
