The House of Representatives will, on Tuesday, inaugurate an ad-hoc committee mandated to assume legislative oversight of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The decision, announced in a statement issued on Sunday by House spokesman Akin Rotimi, follows ongoing political tensions in the state legislature.

The committee will be chaired by House Leader Professor Julius Ihonvbere, with Minority Whip Ali Isa serving as deputy. It comprises a cross-party team of 18 members, including Iduma Igariwey, Oluwole Oke, Shehu Rijau, Etinosa Amadi, and Patrick Umoh.
Additional appointees include James Barka, Alex Egbona, Isa Anka, Fatima Talba, Isiaka Ibrahim, and Idris Wase, among others.
Professor Jake Dan-Azumi has been named to head the committee’s secretariat.
