Reps to question Accountant General over fake agency

House of Reps Flags 1,894 Unmanned Borders as Security Threat

Nigeria’s Accountant-General, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, will appear before a House of Representatives committee today to explain how the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council obtained a government budget code, letting it appear in the 2026 federal budget.

The panel, chaired by Yusuf Gagdi, previously heard Budget Office DG Tanimu Yakubu testify that the code was created under the Buhari administration, and that no funds were ever actually disbursed to the council, despite its ₦1.32 billion appropriation.

The probe intensified after Adeniyi Adeyemi, PFIPC’s self-styled DG, was arrested and alleged he paid ₦400 million to Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to secure his role — an allegation both the Presidency and Gbajabiamila strongly deny, calling Adeyemi an impostor.
