Gunmen have killed a pastor, his wife and their two children in an overnight attack on Gako village in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau state. The incident happened at about 11 pm on Sunday when the assailants reportedly opened fire, forcing residents to flee.
The victims have been identified as Reverend Ayuba Choji, his wife Chundung Ayuba, and their children Cyril and Endurance Ayuba. A resident, Martha Dalyop, said the sound of gunfire caused panic across the community, with many people running for safety.
The attack was confirmed by the publicity secretary of the Berom Youths Moulder-Association, Rwang Tengwong, who described it as severe. He said the gunmen operated in groups, targeting residents, destroying farmlands and blocking escape routes. He also reported that crops were damaged in nearby Barkin Ladi within the past 48 hours.

The killings have heightened tension in Riyom and the surrounding communities, with calls for stronger security presence.Â
