President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties. The Presidency said responsibility for matters previously handled by the committee has been transferred to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
The committee was established in 2000 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo to oversee the sale, leasing and other forms of alienation of federal government properties. The Presidency said the committee’s activities had extended beyond its original mandate and generated multiple court cases, making its continued existence unnecessary.
Although the dissolution was announced on July 30, 2026, the Presidency said it took effect from November 5, 2025, when Tinubu directed the Attorney-General to assume responsibility for the committee’s functions. The committee’s erstwhile Secretary, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, has been directed to immediately cease acting on behalf of the committee and the Federal Government on all related matters.
