President Bola Tinubu and Labour Party’s Mr. Peter Obi briefly met on Sunday during the installation mass of Pope Leo 14th in Rome, in a moment that drew public interest back home.
The encounter occurred after former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Kayode Fayemi, spotted the president seated among dignitaries and led Mr. Obi over to greet him.

President Tinubu, who heads Nigeria’s delegation to the Vatican, warmly interacted with both men. Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, reported a light-hearted exchange, with Mr. Obi acknowledging the President’s leadership of the delegation.
Both Mr. Obi and Mr. Fayemi, devout Catholics and Papal knights, attended the mass alongside global leaders and pilgrims.
Mr. Obi later noted on social media that he was pleased to witness such a diverse gathering united by faith, describing the atmosphere as one of humility and shared purpose.
