At least 96 houses were burned in Gyenbwas community, Langai District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State, following a violent clash on Monday. Residents alleged that food, livestock, and valuables were looted during the attack. Three people have been confirmed dead, including one body recovered on Tuesday, according to the traditional ruler, Alhaji Yakubu Umar.
The community accused the Berom ethnic group of launching the assault, but the Berom Youth Moulders Association has denied any involvement. BYM President Dalyop Solomon said their members had been targeted in the area, adding that any defensive actions taken were in self-defence and protected by law. He described the claims of Berom involvement as false and misleading.
