Troops of the Nigerian Army say they have killed two suspected bandit kingpins, identified as Anaruwa and Gomina, along with seven others, during operations in Zamfara State. The action took place over the past three days, according to a statement issued on Monday.
The army said the operation was carried out by Sector Two under Operation Fansan Yamma in Anka Local Government Area, where troops engaged armed fighters along the Bagega to Anka road. Reinforcements and air support were deployed after an initial clash, leading to further casualties among the attackers and the recovery of weapons and motorcycles.
In a separate operation in Katsina State, troops on patrol encountered and killed additional fighters along the Turare to Yantumaki road in Dutsinma Local Government Area. The military said several rifles, motorcycles and ammunition were recovered across both states.
