The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the administration is considering extending restrictions on commercial motorcycles and tricycles in Abuja’s city centre to address growing security concerns.
Speaking during a monthly media briefing, Wike said consultations with security agencies are underway before any decision is taken. He stressed that the measure is intended to improve public safety, noting that motorcycles and tricycles should not dominate major roads in the capital.
Commercial operators are already barred from several parts of the city centre under existing FCT regulations. Wike assured residents that the administration would continue to balance security with the transportation needs of commuters while pursuing broader efforts to improve mobility in the Federal Capital Territory.
