Confusion As Another Court Orders Eviction Of Sanusi From Palace

A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the removal of Muhammad Sanusi II from the official residence of the Emir of Kano.

The presiding judge, Justice S.A. Amobeda, granted an ex parte motion filed by the applicant, Aminu Ado Bayero, the dethroned Emir of Kano. The order was given hours after a state high court restrained him from parading himself as the Emir of Kano.

Justice Amobeda ordered Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, and Hussain Gumel, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, to ensure that all rights and privileges of an Emir are given to Aminu Ado Bayero.

The judge also restrained the security agencies from arresting him pending the determination of the suit he filed. The matter was adjourned until June 4 for a hearing.

Contrastingly, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu of a Kano High Court has restrained the police and other security agencies from evicting Mohammadu Sanusi II who was recently reinstated as Emir by the Kano State governor.
