Covid 19: EU Health Committee Seeks Coordinated Response To Influx Of Travellers From China

Health officials of the European Union are deliberating a possible coordination of efforts in response to travellers from China following the country’s decision to lift its COVID-19 restrictions amid a wave of infections there.

The EU Health Security Committee held discussions yesterday, however, it is unclear what stance the body will take.

Italy has mandated tests on arrival for all travellers from China, while others say they see no need to follow suit or are waiting for a common stance across the 27 member states.

Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s Prime Minister said she “expects and hopes” the bloc will follow her country’s lead on imposing mandatory COVID tests for all passengers flying in from China.
