The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has acknowledged a resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the North East, particularly in Borno State, linking it to wider instability across the Sahel region.
Speaking in Kaduna after visiting military institutions, he said the attacks in Borno are part of the insurgents’ broader agenda, also affecting countries like Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. Â

Despite the renewed threat, the minister assured Nigerians that the military has significantly reduced assaults on camps and is making gains on the ground.
He also addressed the ongoing communal clashes in Benue State, saying the government is focusing on conflict resolution and designating grazing areas to end the violence.
