Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila appeared before the ICPC on Monday to answer questions over the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, as President Tinubu’s 30-day investigative directive continues.
Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed his client arrived at ICPC headquarters at 3 pm, gave testimony, and returned to his duties afterwards. The Chief of Staff has separately filed a sworn statement denying any relationship with self-styled PFIPC head Adeniyi Adeyemi, denying receiving any money, and denying involvement in the death of alleged intermediary Babatunde Tanimola.
Adeyemi alleges he paid ₦400 million to secure his position as DG, and separately claims Gbajabiamila later demanded 48% of the council’s ₦27.3 billion take-off grant — allegations Gbajabiamila calls baseless, backed by a ₦15 billion defamation suit filed against Adeyemi last week.
The ICPC’s investigation, ordered July 7, examines the forged appointment letters, bank accounts, and institutional failures that let PFIPC operate from the Federal Secretariat and secure a ₦1.3bn budget line despite having no legal basis.
