Kaduna Launches Rehabilitation Programme for Repentant Bandits
The current Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani

Governor Uba Sani has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fairness and justice as part of efforts to achieve lasting peace and development in Kaduna State. Speaking in Birnin Gwari on Thursday, the governor received the first batch of repentant bandits and reopened the local cattle market, which had been shut for a decade due to insecurity.

Governor Sani disclosed that the Kaduna State Government, in partnership with federal agencies, established the Peace Dialogue Group to engage stakeholders in the fight against violence. Repentant individuals will be enrolled in a rehabilitation programme jointly designed by the state and federal governments.

The governor emphasised a balanced approach of “carrot and stick,” welcoming those who choose peace while warning that decisive action will be taken against those who continue to engage in violence. He added that his administration is developing a comprehensive strategy, termed the ‘Kaduna Model,’ to ensure sustainable peace and security across the state.

Governor Sani called on all citizens to support the state government’s peace-building initiatives and remain vigilant against threats to security.
