Nine people have been killed in a fresh attack on Edikwu Ankpali community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State. Residents say the victims died in a night raid carried out on 12 April by suspected armed herders.
The victims were buried in Ankpali, with community members releasing their names as they called for stronger security intervention. They include men aged between 29 and 78, many of them described as fathers and breadwinners.
Residents say the attack has left the community in fear, with many unable to return to their farms or carry out daily activities. They say the violence has deepened insecurity and displaced normal life in the area.

The Benue State Government says it has ordered security agencies to begin coordinated operations against armed groups in forests across Apa and surrounding local government areas. Police, however, say a separate attack in a nearby community did not result in any deaths.
