Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has thrown his weight behind the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as the new platform for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
Mr Obi said the coalition, formed after “deep reflection” on Nigeria’s current trajectory, was committed to delivering competent, compassionate leadership. He emphasised that the alliance would always prioritise the Nigerian people in its decisions.

The announcement, made via his official X handle, marks a significant step in efforts to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo reacted sharply, calling the ADC coalition the “formal dismemberment” of the Peoples Democratic Party. He claimed the old PDP guard had been ousted by a younger faction, weakening what was once Nigeria’s strongest opposition party.
