Ogun state’s deputy governor leads delegation to commiserate with Kano crash victims’ families

A high-powered delegation from Ogun State, led by Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has visited Kano State to commiserate with the government and families of the 22 athletes who died in a recent road accident. The delegation, which arrived in Kano on Monday morning, conveyed Governor Dapo Abiodun’s condolences and announced a donation of one million naira to each of the families of the victims as initial support.  

Salako-Oyedele said the visit was to show solidarity with the people of Kano in these difficult times, describing the incident as a devastating loss for the state and the athletics community. She offered prayers for the victims, asking Allah to forgive their shortcomings and grant them eternal rest.

The Ogun team included the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, the Commissioner for Sports Development, Wasiu Isiaka, and other top officials. They were received at the Kano Government House by Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, who expressed appreciation for the support and solidarity shown by Ogun State.  

The accident occurred last Saturday at Gadar Yankifi in the Garun Malam Local Government Area, involving a Toyota Coaster bus carrying 32 occupants. The Federal Road Safety Corps said 22 people died at the scene, while others sustained injuries.
