Peter Obi’s Brother Heads to Court Over Lagos Property Demolition

Mr Ndibe Obi, younger brother to Labour Party presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, has taken legal action following the demolition of a property belonging to Next Foods Ltd in Ikeja, Lagos.

Obi, the firm’s majority shareholder, is challenging the demolition, which took place last Friday under disputed circumstances.

The company’s lawyer, Mr. Emeka Okpoko, SAN, told reporters in Awka that court proceedings have already commenced.

He explained the property was lawfully acquired in 2011, with the governor’s consent granted in 2013, and had no issues until the recent development.

Mr. Okpoko said the land’s ownership is traceable to the old Western Region land registry in Ibadan, noting that the current owners have consistently met all statutory obligations.

He questioned the manner of the demolition, claiming no formal documentation was presented during the operation.

The matter is now before the courts.
