Gunmen abduct principal, students in Oyo school attack

Gunmen demand ₦1bn ransom for abducted Ekiti worshippers

Gunmen have attacked the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, abducting the principal of Community High School, Rachael Alamu, and an unspecified number of students.

The attack reportedly took place between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday when the armed men stormed the school premises, whisked away students whose number has not been confirmed, and took the principal away in her vehicle.

A resident said a teacher was also shot during the incident, although the extent of the injury is yet to be verified. The attackers reportedly fled into a nearby forest reserve after the operation.

The spokesperson for the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the attack, saying the number of abductees is still being verified, while a police team led by the Commissioner of Police has been deployed to the area.
