Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday said he had summoned an emergency security council meeting to address the recent wave of attacks and destruction of public properties in the state.
The governor stated that the meeting was convened in view of the latest attacks by thugs, whom the government suspects of being part of the All Progressives Congress. The emergency meeting is to be attended by all the service commanders at the Governor’s Office.Â
Quoting the governor, a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the purpose is to question why hoodlums attack public properties while law enforcement agents refuse to make arrests or prevent such threats to public peace, and to fashion out a containment strategy.Â

The summoning of the emergency meeting follows intensified political tension during which Governor Adeleke’s campaign council accused APC hoodlums of vandalising campaign billboards, an allegation the APC has denied. The governorship election will be held on August 15, 2026.
