The Inter-Party Advisory Council in Osun State has elected a new executive committee ahead of the August 15 governorship election. Dr. Tosin Odeyemi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance emerged as chairman, with representatives of 16 registered political parties endorsing the new leadership.
Odeyemi said the committee would work to strengthen cooperation among political parties and support free, fair and peaceful elections in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He said the inauguration became necessary after the tenure of the previous executive expired and a planned election in March failed to hold, creating a leadership vacuum. The new chairman also appealed to political parties yet to join the executive to work together in the interest of democracy as preparations intensify for the governorship poll.
