Petrol Tanker Explosion Sparks Fire at Lagos Filling Station

A major fire erupted at the Optima Filling Station in Fagba, Lagos, on Wednesday evening following an explosion involving a 33,000-litre petrol tanker.

The incident, which occurred around 5:00 p.m. along Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road, began during the offloading of Premium Motor Spirit. A second tanker nearby was also engulfed in flames.

According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the blaze damaged both tankers, the station’s retail marts, a one-storey residential building behind the premises, and another structure on a neighbouring street.
