Nigeria’s House of Representatives has given the Inspector-General of Police 48 hours to produce Adeniyi Adeyemi, self-styled DG of the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, before its investigative committee by noon Wednesday.
Committee Chairman Yusuf Gagdi issued the directive after police confirmed Adeyemi faces an eight-count charge over allegedly fabricating a National Assembly Act to establish PFIPC, securing Federal Secretariat office space, and seeking approval to recruit 300 staff and a ₦1.3 billion budget allocation.
Investigators say signatures on documents purportedly from the Chief of Staff’s office don’t match genuine State House correspondence, reinforcing suspicions the underlying enabling law was forged. Gagdi said 29 allegedly forged documents have been identified so far, with multiple government agencies already disowning documents attributed to them.
“It is not an option now. We will need him here to confirm some documents to us in such a way that will not undermine our investigation to enable us to submit our report on time,” Gagdi said.
